Must … Find … Writing … Time!

I may aim for Supermom, but I think I splat onto the target somewhere around Doing-the-best-I-can-mom. Like all of us, I suppose.

The potty-training, highchair, car seat days are full of constant motion. I haven’t done any formal exercise since the boys came, but I’ve lost a pound and my knee feels great. I’m in front of the computer about 90% less of the time. I’m waking about an hour earlier than I’m used to and I’m staying up later trying to recoup the lost “me” time.

However, I’m bound and determined to get more writing done today than I have lately. The boys are napping, my kids are playing, and as soon as I post this I’m going to edit the first short story I’ve ever written for submission. If you want to see what I’m up to, check out The First Line.

The first line for current submissions is this: “Roy owned the only drive-thru funeral business in Maine.” Interesting, huh? I’ll let you know if anything comes of it.

Also, there is exciting news on the book front. Our agent will be meeting with a publisher who’s interested in both completed books at ICRS on Tuesday. Prayers are appreciated. 🙂

Yay! How exciting, Christina. I’ll be praying.

Your short story’s first line is intriguing. It raised all sorts of questions in my mind. Coffins to go? Kleenex by the case? Maybe I shouldn’t joke around, but the intro certainly provoked that reaction. 🙂

Have a great weekend. Maybe you need one of those Alpha Smart devices, so you can jot a few words while the kiddies are frolicking in the backyard. I’m thinking about one for myself although not for the same reasons.

    Blessings,
    Susan
