Tenth Anniversary/New Release of The Familiar Stranger!

Does this book look “familiar”?

And the new cover is “to die for” — (inside joke, if you’ve read the book before)

It’s difficult to believe that TEN years have passed since Moody Publishers first released my debut novel. Back then, I was a freshly divorced mother of 3-4 children, depending on which foster children were with me, who squeaked by on the kindness of others and my substitute income.

Since then, I’ve remarried, mothered five kiddos, moved, started-ran-sold a publishing company, quit subbing for a few years and then went back to it, and have plenty more adventures ahead.

How excellent that WhiteFire Publishing wanted to re-release my first book!

Ten years doesn’t seem so long ago, does it? I was surprised by how many things I needed to change in this updated version–flip phones, giving driving directions, laws for new drivers, the use of answering machines, etc. Yet the bones of the story are timeless: how much is just too much to forgive?

I hope you give this book a fresh look. You can find The Familiar Stranger in print or e-book on the WhiteFire site or on Amazon.

Even though this experience of re-releasing the book has been a blessing, it’s also forced me to revisit a crisis-filled time of my life. Emotions from the past bubbled up the night before release–whether from thinking about how I had such grand hopes for my author career or how one negative review could blare so much louder than all the positive ones or even how I was possibly going to keep our little family afloat. My sweet husband listened sympathetically as my roller-coaster feelings came flying out of me, which just served to remind me how AMAZING my life now is!

Thank You, Lord, for guiding me through that “shadow of death” to these still waters. Please let this book reach new readers who need to see how You can work forgiveness in our lives.
