Ka-Powell!

What a huge hit! Any fan of books, either as a writer or a reader, makes a pilgrimage to Powell’s Book store when he or she visits Portland. It’s the mecca of book worms! And guess whose book is featured on their main pages as a Daily Dose? Mine! (The Familiar Stranger as a Daily Dose.)

Surprised, huh? 😉

Here I am outside the airport Powell’s store. Anyone wonder if I was able to restrain from going in and introducing myself as their Daily Dose? (If you answer yes, you don’t know me very well.)

Question: If a trip starts off with lots of bumps, does it mean everything else will go smoothly? I’ve had quite a few people buying books, so I had quite a few personal checks waiting to be cashed. Politeness dictates I do that relatively soon after receiving the check so my wonderful customers can balance their accounts.

Mom and I swung by US Bank on the way to the airport to make a deposit. Then we popped in at the airport Panda Express for lunch before going through security. I went to pay for my food and … no debit card. My debit card is shredded in the Cornelius ATM! I’m starting a 5-day trip with no debit card. Eek! At least I have a credit card, but some merchants don’t accept its “brand.” Oh, and I bashed the back of my leg with my suitcase. All in all, I think it means the rest of the trip will amaze me!

Speaking of amazing, read this review from Robin Johns Grant at Dimensions: Art and Eternity, the next stop on the tour. She starts off with an apology!! Not to be missed.

I’m finding the reviews I love the most mention what they thought the book would be like, but how I surprised them.
