Harvest of Little Plants

Last Sunday, we held the final AWANA meeting of the year and doled out awards. Once again, I was amazed at the children in my group. As a leader, I have the privilege of watching them tuck verse after verse away in their hearts. Every single meeting–even with going through all my life changes–I walked out of the building glad to have spent time investing in our children.

Andrea and Joshua pushed very hard at the end to reach their goals. Because the program started last year, Joshua had only two years to complete three books. He recited the first six verses of John 14 to pass his last book in the final week!

Andrea had finished her book, same as last year, but desperately wanted to complete the Silver review sections. Each of these consist of 8-10 verses that must be said in order and linked to four answers to a certain question, like “Why should I go to church?” All of that … and only two helps allowed. She finished the final review section that day as well!

My devotion that night “happened” to be from Luke 8:15 (The Message): “But the seed in the good earth–these are the good-hearts who seize the Word and hold on no matter what, sticking with it until there’s a harvest.”

Amen, Lord!

Here are a few of the mighty Sparky leaders. It was an honor to work with all of you!
