Babies ‘R Us

Well, not yet, but possibly soon. It’s been almost two weeks since we first heard about the little ones who needed to be placed together. Things have not moved as quickly as I would have liked, but what’s new? God keeps teaching me patience, but I wish He’d be done already! 🙂

First of all, the babies are in a different county, a county whose boundary is mere miles from us, which we’ll call County A (CA). CA would not take us, they informed me after a few days of waiting and checking, unless County B (CB) “instigated” the switch and CA “facilitated” it. Completely understand. I’m willing to bet that every county in America needs more foster parents. CA doesn’t want to appear as if they’re stealing a stable home from another county.

I talked to CB and they said they would consider it if we put it in writing. They had an email from me within an hour, I think. The contact there suggested we try for a “special certification” from CA for just those children. I left that on CA’s message machine, but didn’t hear anything until this morning. She said it would not work, as special certs are only for people who have current relationships with the kids. So there went twelve days of waiting with barely perceptible progress.

There was nothing to do but sigh and admit that God will do it in His time.

Shortly I got a call from the friend who started this all in the first place. Turns out she’d been talking to CA when CB emailed them. The approval for us to foster out of county was going in for signatures. Now CA can start moving forward.

Anybody want to recommend the newest must-have baby products? I was at a baby shower this weekend and found out that a baby bath is not enough anymore. No. You need to get the mesh sling that fits over the baby bath, too. People, fill me in. I’ve been out of this stage for seven years come Monday. (Happy early birthday, Bud!)

Does this mean the end of my writing career? I’ll cover that in the next post …
