Why Do You Blog?

Here’s a link to a research survey of…you guessed it: why we blog.

If you fill out the survey, you will be entered into a raffle to win an Ipod shuffle.

I like taking surveys because it makes me feel listened to! 😉 But this really made me think about why I started blogging. The first reason: I was told to. Blogging has been mentioned at every OCW conference I’ve been to for the last year. It can be a huge marketing tool for a writer. If I can connect with someone through a book enough that they come looking for me on the Internet, then I want to be able to connect more deeply and personally through a blog.

Second: I like meeting new people. Just this week I met a lovely lady named Lynda through blogging. She might have written my first fan letter! 😉

Third: It gives me a sense of community. Writing is a lonely profession. I don’t have coworkers right now, as I’m doing my WIP by myself. Usually, when Mom and I are writing together, at least we have each other. Every morning, after I check email, I make a circuit around the blogs I find enjoyable. It’s my version of visiting the water cooler.

Hi Christina, I just finished the survey and posted a short blog about this survey. Of course I noted where I found this survey.

Hope to see you and your mom at the conference in three weeks.
